An Ode to Holden Caulfield
This episode was on last night, and it always touches my heart. All you have to do is watch this episode and you will see the deep and everlasting love that these two share for each other. Shawn’s love for Angela runs so deep that he can’t even begin to explain to her how he feels so he writes it down in a poem. He is overcome with love for this woman. He is afraid of being rejected and afraid that she has moved on from him and just wants to be friends. As soon as Cory reads the poem that Shawn wrote for her, i cry tears of joy. Shawn’s words were so powerful, and this episode really gave us a glimpse into his heart
Angela was so caught off guard, and because she is trying to protect herself because she is scared of getting hurt as well, she lashes out at Shawn. She can’t understand how he can write such a romantic poem about her and not want to be with her. Little does she know just how much he does want to be with her. This is a man who is aching inside because of his love for this woman. It’s actually heartbreaking to watch the two of them skirt around each other. They both have deep feelings for one another, but both think the other has moved on. They are protecting their feelings. When you see them talking by the fireplace and you watch the way they look into each other’s eyes it’s the most beautiful thing in the world. True love as powerful as theirs only comes along once and i truly believe this. I can’t watch this episode or any episode and not be convinced that they are soulmates and belong together.
